  What we do:

For anyone of any age, or religious, ethnic or racial background, Buttercup Farms is committed to providing:

  • Temporary and/or long-term housing solutions

  • A sanctuary for rest, reflection and healing where the basic necessities of life are lovingly provided

  • Opportunities for counseling and individual support

  • The freedom to explore new life skills and the nurturing environment in which to shape them

  • Uplifting, diverse outdoor settings and a wide range of both challenging recreational and enjoyable quality of life activities

  • An operating atmosphere of acceptance, in which people from different walks of life may freely gather to work together, to learn from one another and to grow spiritually

Embracing this approach over the past 20 years, the generous volunteers of Buttercup Farms have helped to restore balance, confidence and a deeper sense of purpose to the lives of more than 400 men, women and young people from all over the world.

Currently, our expanding vision for humanitarian assistance has extended our global efforts. Individual outreach projects are now underway in Borneo and in the African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Guinea Bissau and Senegal.

  History

In 1986, Buttercup Farms officially came into existence when it offered help to a 17-year-old girl who was struggling with anorexia. When extensive treatments at a university clinic in the Midwest didn’t solve her eating disorder, Buttercup Farms took her in. Providing housing, eight caring individuals to live with, as well as unconditional love and support, she received a new start and her challenge was resolved within six months. Her recovery is complete to this day and she is living a meaningful and prosperous life.

This was only the first of what has since turned into many hundreds of inspiring stories of individuals nurtured by the loving volunteers at the farm. Over the years, the Buttercup Farms focus has shifted from the rehabilitation of individuals to empowerment programs on an international scale.
